The most picturesque part of Amsterdam is a district called Red Light District (Rosse Buurt). As you might guess, this is a district of maleficence – prostitution, gambling, drugs, but presented in a (seemingly) elegant package. So elegant that in the daylight this quarter is crowded by tourists of both sexes, leisurely strolling along the trees, the canals and narrow streets full of shops and various restaurants. The real character of this part of Amsterdam is reminded however by windows with prostitutes, porn cinemas and theaters. And of course there could not lack the Museum of Sex (Damrak 18) and the Museum of Hashish, Marijuana and Hemp (Oudezijds Achterburgwal 148).
